What decides this reading — two comparisons, and two words for the nickname

This screen makes three things out of your birthday and the four letters you picked: one nickname and two lines. Nothing here is a forecast, and nothing is drawn at random. The table says which line you get and why.

The chart side comes from two places. Energy is the yin or yang of your Day Master, the heavenly stem of your birthday, and the ten stems split evenly, so each side is 50.0% of birthdays. Judgment is the strongest ten-god group in your chart: three of them read as the head side, two as the heart side.

There is no draw here. The same birthday and the same four letters give the same nickname and the same two lines, today and next year.

We do not guess your MBTI — you chose it, and this screen never argues with your choice. And the ten-god group is counted from the year, month and hour pillars: with no birth time we count two of the three, so adding a birth time can move the judgment line.

The four letters do not all land in the same place. The first letter is the one the energy comparison uses. The third letter is the one the judgment comparison uses, and whenever the second letter is N it also settles the temperament behind the nickname; when the second letter is S, the fourth letter settles the temperament instead. So one letter can be left with nothing to do here: if your second letter is N, swapping J for P changes nothing on this screen. That is why the 16 types come down to 12 different readings.

From the birthday side, only two things reach this screen. One is the heavenly stem of the day pillar, the Day Master, which sets the energy comparison and the element word in the nickname. The other is which of the two ten-god sides the chart leans to, which sets the judgment comparison. The rest of the chart is used to count the ten gods and then let go. That leaves 20 chart states in all, and two people who land on the same state read the same nickname and the same two lines, word for word, however far apart their birthdays sit.

The two lines are read off different parts of the chart: the energy line off the day pillar alone, the judgment line off the ten gods counted from the year, month and hour pillars.
