Dreaming of a tiger
In Korean tradition the tiger is authority given a shape — a person of rank arriving, a rise in standing, and one of the proudest of pregnancy dreams.
The tiger sits high in Korean 해몽. It is not read as a beast to fear but as 권위 — authority, rank, and the arrival of a person of consequence. In the old country the tiger was the mountain god's messenger, half-sacred, and that weight carries into the dream: to meet one is to meet a large force, a patron, a superior at work, a name above your own. As a 태몽 it is one of the most treasured, read as a child who will lead. What the tiger does decides the reading. One that comes toward you or into the house brings the authority near; one you climb onto or take hold of is authority that becomes yours; the white tiger, the 백호, is read as the rarest and most honoured version of all.
- A tiger comes toward you, or into the house
- Read as a large force arriving — a patron, a superior, a person of rank. In 태몽 reading, a child of unusual standing.
- You ride the tiger, or take hold of it
- Authority that becomes yours rather than authority you merely stand before. The tradition's reading of a rise you actually hold.
- A tiger chases you
- Read as a weight of authority pressing on you — demanding, not evil. The tradition treats it as a force to outlast, never as a verdict on the dreamer.
- A white tiger, the 백호
- The rarest and most honoured of the tiger dreams: something sacred, an extraordinary person, a name that carries far.
- A tiger cub
- Read as a small thing with a large future — and often carried into 태몽 reading as a child who will grow into standing.
Tigers tend to walk into dreams when you are standing near something bigger than yourself — a decision, a person, a role that outsizes the room. If the tiger frightened you, fear is only the ordinary shape of meeting something large. It says nothing about the kind of person you are.
Is a tiger dream a pregnancy dream (태몽)?
It is one of the proudest. Tradition reads it as a child who will lead, and older books often tie the tiger 태몽 to a son — though they contradict each other on that, so treat it as folklore rather than a rule.
A tiger was chasing me. Is that a bad dream?
Tradition reads the chase as the weight of authority, not as harm — a force to outlast. Nothing in this reading concerns your body or your safety.
Does a tiger dream mean promotion?
It is how the tradition reads the symbol: rising standing, a patron, rank. It is a reading, not a prediction, and nothing here can calculate your career.
